Senior Research Associate, Genetic Pharmacology
W2 Contract-to-Hire
Salary Range: $104,000 - $110,200 per hour
Location: Redwood City, CA - Onsite Role
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Research Associate specialized in cellular and molecular biology to join the Genetic Pharmacology team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the generation and utilization of complex genetically engineered mouse model (GEMM)-derived organoid and cell systems to support small molecule drug development in line with our company's mission and core values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generation, organization, maintenance, and characterization of in vitro GEMM-derived tumor models, including but not restricted to:
- Isolation of organoids from mouse tissues
- Culturing, selection, and banking of organoid and cell lines
- Conducting genetic manipulation (CRISPR, shRNA, etc.) of cells involving viral delivery and nucleofection of DNA and RNA components
- Running cellular assays (e.g., flow cytometry, FACS, proliferation, viability, etc) in the presence or absence of anti-cancer agents
- Executing molecular biology protocols (e.g., DNA/RNA/protein prep, PCR, qPCR, western blot, JESS)
- Sample management, organization, and inventory
- Data curation, entry, organization, analysis, and presentation
- Contributing to the broader application of genetically engineered models in small molecule drug development as part of multi-disciplinary research and development project teams
- Developing and applying internal experimental protocols as well as producing detailed documentation of procedures and data that comply with internal standard operating procedures and other quality criteria
- Communicating and collaborating closely within a fast-paced and highly cross-functional team
Requirements and Qualifications:
- M.S. or B.S. in cancer biology, genetics, molecular biology, or a related field
- 5+ years of lab experience, knowledge of, and extensive hands-on experience in tissue culture, and basic molecular biology techniques in a relevant field
- Experiences with multiple genetic manipulation modalities (e.g., lentiviral, CRISPR, RNAi, etc.)
- Familiarity with mid-throughput experimental design and execution
- Experience with cell and molecular biology assay development
- Basic understanding of cancer biology, including major cancer types, genes, signaling pathways, and categories of preclinical cancer models
- Demonstrated experience in executing and interpreting data from lab experiments.
- A "no task too big or small", "fill in the gaps" mentality that thrives in a collaborative team setting and is motivated to innovate and contribute in a high-energy, small company environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with organoid isolation, culturing, and manipulation
- Translational research experience
