W2 Contract

Salary Range: $124,800 - $145,600 per year

Location: Austin, TX - Remote Role

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Architect, deploy, and manage large-scale Kubernetes clusters on-prem and across multiple public clouds.
• Design and operate hybrid Kubernetes control planes with federation and workload portability between clouds and data centers.
• Implement advanced cluster lifecycle management (upgrades, scaling, backup/restore, multi-region DR) using tools like Cluster API, Rancher, Anthos, or OpenShift.
• Engineer multi-tenancy, RBAC, and policy enforcement (OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno) for secure workloads.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, and GitOps pipelines.
• Enhance observability with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK, and distributed tracing.
• Optimize cluster networking (CNI: Calico, Cilium, Istio service mesh) and storage (Ceph, Portworx, EBS, Azure Disk, GCP PD).
• Troubleshoot critical production issues (etcd, kube-apiserver, kubelet, DNS, ingress controllers) and lead RCA for outages.
• Drive SRE practices: SLOs/SLIs, chaos testing, auto-scaling, cost-optimization across hybrid environments.
• Mentor junior engineers on Kubernetes best practices, cloud-native design, and distributed systems reliability.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on Kubernetes engineering in production environments.
• Expertise with hybrid and multi-cloud Kubernetes (on-prem + AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep understanding of cluster internals (etcd, control plane, scheduling, kube-proxy, CNI, CSI).
• Strong background in SRE, reliability engineering, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency with automation frameworks (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, GitOps).
• Familiarity with service mesh, policy-as-code, and advanced cluster security.
