Infrastructure Platform Engineer (Kubernetes / Cloud / IaC)

W2 Contract

Pay Rate: $55 - $65 per hour

Location: Cupertino, CA - Remote Role

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly experienced Infrastructure Platform Engineer to help design, migrate, and evolve large-scale distributed platform infrastructure across multiple cloud environments. This role requires someone who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with deep infrastructure expertise and can independently drive complex platform migration initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze and understand complex distributed platform deployments across cloud environments.
• Design and execute migration strategies for large-scale infrastructure platforms.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions for cloud-native platforms.
• Work closely with engineering teams to understand platform architecture while minimizing impact on product development.
• Identify infrastructure gaps and recommend scalable architectural improvements.
• Design and implement Kubernetes-based platform solutions.
• Develop automation for provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and platform operations.
• Document platform architecture, migration plans, operational procedures, and best practices.
• Drive technical discussions and collaborate across platform, infrastructure, networking, and security teams.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and platform best practices.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• 8+ years of software engineering or platform engineering experience.
• Strong expertise with Kubernetes in production environments.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, including one or more of Crossplane, Terraform, Pulumi, and CloudFormation
• Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform, Alibaba Cloud (preferred), AWS (EKS), and Google Cloud Platform
• Experience designing and implementing large-scale cloud infrastructure.
• Strong Linux and containerization experience.
• Experience with Helm and Kubernetes packaging.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across infrastructure and application layers.
• Excellent documentation and technical communication skills.
• Ability to independently own complex technical initiatives from discovery through implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience migrating workloads between cloud providers.
• Experience deploying or operating large-scale distributed data platforms such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink, and Trino
• Experience with networking concepts, including DNS, Load balancing, Service Mesh, VPC networking, and network security
• Experience with authentication and authorization technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud security, governance, and compliance.
• Experience designing highly available and resilient platform infrastructure.
• Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineering teams.
