DevOps Engineer
W2 Contract
Pay Rate: $55 - $65 per hour
Location: San Diego, CA - Hybrid Role
Job Summary:
We are seeking a DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the platform and related financial services infrastructure. This role will focus on improving platform reliability, supporting migration from legacy on-premise systems to AWS, and maintaining modern DevOps practices across highly available payment services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and optimize AWS-based infrastructure supporting large-scale financial services platforms.
- Support migration of legacy infrastructure to AWS while preparing systems for future cloud-native architectures
- Implement infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Spinnaker, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD
- Improve deployment automation, release management, and environment consistency across services.
- Develop automation scripts and tooling to improve operational efficiency.
- Manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Implement Kubernetes deployment patterns and Helm-based packaging.
- Support scaling and operational management of containerized workloads
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Splunk.
- Improve platform observability to ensure high availability and system reliability.
- Investigate performance bottlenecks and production incidents.
- Apply DevSecOps principles throughout the CI/CD pipeline.
- Manage secrets using solutions such as Vault or AWS Secrets Manager.
- Ensure infrastructure and deployment processes align with compliance and security requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident management processes.
- Create runbooks and operational playbooks for system support.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and implement reliability improvements.
- Work closely with development, security, product, and compliance teams.
- Maintain clear documentation and communicate effectively across engineering teams.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Deep expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm
- Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi)
- Strong knowledge of monitoring and observability platforms
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go
- Experience designing high-availability systems with disaster recovery and failover strategies
- Experience participating in incident management and production support environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with digital payment systems, e-commerce platforms, or tokenization services
- Familiarity with financial services compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, SOC 2, or GDPR
- Experience working in fintech or highly regulated environments
- Understanding of data residency requirements and financial regulatory controls
