Associate Scientist, Analytical Development
W2 Contract
Pay Rate: $45 - $48 per hour
Location: South San Francisco, CA - Onsite Role
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented individual to support critical late-phase analytical development and characterization activities, applying a broad analytical skillset towards enhancing product/process knowledge and supporting control system strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the late-phase-relevant characterization of protein biologics through the application of chromatography-, capillary-, spectroscopy-, and mass spectrometry-based analytical methods.
- Generate and critically evaluate high-quality analytical data to support late-phase analytical activities, including but not limited to: extended characterization of product variants and degradation pathways, batch-to-batch comparability assessments, and manufacturing or QC-related investigations.
- Isolate/purify and characterize product variants to support critical quality attribute (CQA) assessments and inform control system strategies.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough lab records summarizing performed experiments consistent with good documentation practices in the electronic notebook system.
- Co-author and review analytical technical reports, memos, or other relevant documents, as needed.
- Present findings in internal or external cross-functional meetings.
- Participate in general laboratory and instrument maintenance activities.
- Coordinate parallel tasks and prioritize deliverables to meet departmental and organizational goals.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related discipline, with 3 years of relevant hands-on experience with in-depth analytical characterization of biotherapeutics.
- A strong knowledge and background in analytical chemistry and protein chemistry fundamentals are essential.
- Practical experience with various analytical methods, such as but not limited to chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, spectroscopy, and LC-MS for biologics.
- Proficiency with data management and analysis in spreadsheet applications and chromatography system software (Chromeleon, Empower, etc.). Experience with mass spectrometry data analysis software (PMI, Excalibur, etc.) is also desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other team members in the laboratory.
- Excellent laboratory, critical thinking, scientific problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to balance competing priorities and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a strong desire to learn and expand skillset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
