Proof of Relevance: The New Standard for Partnering in 2011 and Beyond focused on the importance of seeking Proof of Relevance for early stage programs and provided recent examples of strategies for achieving value inflection from demonstration of Proof of Relevance in early stage development.

Personalized Medicine, Molecular Diagnostics discussed questions such as:

  • Where do we stand in terms of seeing molecular diagnostics taking a key role in determining therapeutic treatment for a patient?
  • What will the regulatory scene look like?
  • How about reimbursement—who will pay?

Infectious Disease: A War on Many Fronts featured representatives from a panel of companies developing our arsenal of next generation antiviral and antimicrobial weapons discussing the infectious disease landscape and their technologies and targets.

Other parts of the program focused on the practical aspects of the industry and its future:

New Drug Approval at the FDA: Is it Really as Bad as You Think It Is? A group of industry leaders demonstrated how to navigate the FDA approval process in today’s environment.

It’s Always About Money: Financing the Future featured a panel that examined the funding news of 2010 and made predictions for 2011 and how it will impact private and small-cap life science companies.

Getting Paid: Strategic Insights on Coverage and Reimbursement. This interactive workshop addressed the healthcare payment environment over the long term, how to position your product for insurance coverage and reimbursement, and gave practical tips for working with Medicare and other health payors.

Each day included an opportunity to meet one-on-one with representatives from leading companies in the private biotech, public biotech and molecular diagnostics industries.
